Like Mitragyna, this plant is still a little known secret here in the United States, and like Mitragyna it has some paradoxical effects. Although guayusa holds the record for the highest caffeine containing plant, it is traditionally consumed to calm the nerves, to promote a restful sleep and as an anti-spasmotic. Guayusa is said to induce lucid dreams and to lend a blue color to both dreams as well as to ayahuasca visions.

Hunters as well as their dogs are given guayusa to sharpens their instincts. Guayusa is given to man’s true best friend, women, because of it’s use in enchantment and love magic. Guayusa is less tannic than mate.
