Nardostacys Jatamansi, Indian Musk root is a close relative of valerian; however, it is thought to clear, focus and sharpen the mind while valerian is, in Ayurvedic medicine, thought to be dulling and to have a stupifying effect. Jatamansi is highly prized in India, but in the US it is nearly impossible to find large aromatic, freshly dried roots. Since the activity is found in the aromatic principals, powdered jatamani is mostly worthless.
We seem to be the only people to offer whole, clean aromatic roots. This herb is blended with datura seed for an incense and was traditionally used for an external oil for severe pain.
